Chair of Southern Voice, Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, was invited to participate in and speak at a Roundtable Discussion on “Multilateral Framework on Competition: Is it an effective antidote to counter anti-competitive market distortions for trade to work better?” The discussion was part of the WTO Public Forum 2015, with the theme “Trade Works” and held on 1 October in the WTO, Geneva. On the same day, Bhattacharya also participated in the session titled Trade works through innovative partnerships for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda jointly organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the Global Social Observatory (GSO). The session highlighted how partnerships can support the SDGs in areas such as agriculture, food security, nutrition and health, women empowerment by capitalising on trade, global value chains and a regulated trading environment.
