Southern Voice’s efforts in filling data gaps to “deliver the SDGs and leave no one behind”, have been recognised as part of the Case Studies on Data for Development, of OECD’s Development Co-operation Report 2017: Data for Development.

The case study highlights Southern Voice’s multi-country initiative Post-2015 Data Test: Unpacking the Data Revolution at the Country Level,  launched during the SDG negotiations of 2013, and the follow-up studies to prepare Country Data Action Plans.  By identifying both the technical and political determinants of data-gaps, the programme motivated a variety of actors to take action towards improving the data availability.

Southern Voice pursues a rich research portfolio tied to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development. It  is also an Anchor Partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, and has played a significant role at the First World Data Forum in Cape Town (January 2017). SV’s Chair was also invited to address the Preparatory Seminar of the Forum at Guilin, and currently serves in the Programme Committee of the Second Data Forum (for more information, view flyer on SV’s Data Initiatives).
