Imran Matin joined IGC as Country Director for Bangladesh in 2018. He also serves as Executive Director of the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University.
Dr. Matin started his professional career after his masters and PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex, at BRAC’s Research and Evaluation Division which he led from 2003-2006 and then at BRAC International as Deputy Executive Director until 2012. He served as the International Programmes Director of Save the Children International from 2012-2017 overseeing the international programme portfolio of the organization operating in over 60 countries around the world. His immediate past role has been as the Chief Research and Policy Officer of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), a global research and evaluation organization working across twenty countries.
Dr. Matin served as the Member Secretary to the 2003 Civil Society Task Force on Poverty Alleviation and Employment Generation. He has been involved in major research studies on microfinance, extreme poverty and social protection.
