Mohammad Sirajul Islam conducts urban governance research, manages research projects and academic programs. Currently, he is responsible for managing the Post Graduate Diploma in Knitwear Industry Management as Deputy Director. His research interest broadly encompasses the most pressing issues of urbanization in Bangladesh including urban politics and political economy, urban poverty, urban land use and public space, solid waste, traffic congestion, and urban housing. He also carried out research and programming related to information transparency, program evaluation and social accountability. He has been contributing to the BIGD’s annual flagship report “State of Cities” since 2011. More specifically, he led the “State of Cities 2018: Water Governance in Dhaka”. He has written various journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, policy briefs, research report chapters, opinion articles, and project reports individually and with multi-disciplinary team. Sirajul Islam has participated and presented research papers and project outputs in conferences at home and abroad. He is also trained in competence-based education program development and teaching. He is an active member of BIGD’s academic team and teaches courses at post graduate level at BRAC University. Sirajul Islam has a post graduate degree in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka. Through his passion for research, he aims to establish himself as a distinguished qualitative researcher in the sphere of urban governance and development.
