Dr Shanawez Hossain is an Assistant Professor and involved in teaching in academic programs and research under the Urban, Climate Change and Environment Cluster of the institute.  He is leading the Executive Development Centre (EDC) under the Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) targeting skills development of mid-level managers of RMG sector. He is involved with number of research projects funded by World Bank, UNDP, Cities Alliances, DFID, SDC etc. Previously he has held research, teaching and consultancy positions at Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI); Waseda University, Japan and various government and non-governmental organizations. Dr Hossain was a Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholar to pursue PhD in ‘International Development and Policy Studies’ and JDS Fellow for his MA in ‘Economic Development and Infrastructure’, both from Waseda University, Japan. He has completed PGD in ‘Climate, Energy and Food Security’ from United Nations University (UNU); training on ‘Building Capacity to Use Research Evidence’ from Harvard Kennedy School and ‘Research Methodology, Academic Writing and Publishing’ from UC Barkley. His research broadly focuses in the areas of urban governance and sustainable development; poverty and inequality; conflict resolution and peace-building; regional integration and non-traditional security issues in developing countries. He has presented research papers in several international conferences and has publications in reputed journals.
