Prior to joining BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Tanvir Shatil was involved with different research projects of Research and Evaluation Division (RED), BRAC as a Staff Researcher. He joined (BIGD), BRAC University as a Research Associate on 1 January, 2019.
Before starting his professional journey, Shatil completed his Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka. Apart from research experience, Tanvir Shatil has one and half year development program oriented experience at SOS children’s village international in Bangladesh. He is passionate about research and aspires to be a heartfelt development worker and researcher utilizing his merits, enthusiasm, sincerity, sensitivity, empathy, creativity as well as academic knowledge for societal development and humanitarian response. While he has good understanding and appreciation for qualitative research methodology and epistemology, he has always tried to develop a dynamic research methodology. Although he is academically a qualitative researcher, he has good understanding on mixed methods research as well. Tanvir Shatil has the capability to develop research methodology (qualitative and mixed methods), developing check lists and questionnaire (both qualitative and quantitative) as well as planning for quantitative data analysis.
His research interest lies in the issues of socio-economic and cultural transformation of peasant society and agricultural technologies, anthropological aspect of social psychology, public health, education, socio-cultural aspect of social media, virtual world and big data, social power structure, gender issues, political economy, good governance and policy as well as humanitarian crisis.
