Dr Wasel Bin Shadat, an econometrician and statistician by training, joined as Senior Research Fellow at the BIGD, BRAC University in 2019. He has a PhD in Economics and an MSc in Econometrics (with distinction), both from the University of Manchester. Dr Shadat served as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Manchester (2011- 2019). Earlier, Dr Shadat worked as a senior researcher at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bangladesh (2002-2008). He is the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, grants and scholarships; including Manchester School grants, Royal Economic Society Grant, Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan and British Chevening Scholarship. He has published extensively in international top economics journals and a number of monographs on econometric theory, development economics, international trade and labour market issues. He has a keen research interest in (theoretical and applied) econometrics, development and applied economics, experimental economics, statistical inference, data mining, financial econometrics and labour market. Dr Shadat is a member of Econometric Society, Royal Economic Society, American Economic Association and Bangladesh Economic Association.
