SV’s network partner Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) partnered with the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network to organise a two-day workshop titled “Eradicating poverty: using poverty dynamics to enhance development efforts”.

One of the key issues discussed was how SDGs may be effectively implemented to eradicate poverty and ensure no one is left behind. It was agreed that strategies adopted should be comprehensive, practical and customised as per the requirements of a country, community or group of people. Moreover, strategies should address resource requirement and allocation, and specify concrete implementation frameworks. They should include micro-level data and a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework; be coherent, cohesive, long-term and involve all stakeholders.

The event, which was held at the Heron Portico Hotelin on 3-4 May 2017, engaged researchers, policymakers and civil society leaders from South Africa, Liberia, Nigeria, The Gambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
