YOUNG THINK TANKERS

About the initiative

Young think tankers are the potential leaders of tomorrow. The inclusion of their voices will help center southern perspectives in the international agenda.

These policy briefs bring young Global South think tankers from the Southern Voice network together. Young scholars were invited to think about pressing challenges in the areas of climate and sustainability, justice and inclusion, future generations, jobs and economic opportunities and on fostering cooperation among Global South young think tankers. The focus is on where YTTs want to see the Global South in the future and to inform the 2023 UN Summit of the Future.

In 2023, Southern Voice, together with On Think Tanks, launched its first Young Think Tankers Pitching Contest. The competition aimed to promote collaboration among young researchers from the Global South.

After a review of nearly 300 applications, ten individuals were selected to take part in the event. You can watch the contest in full here. The winners of the first competition were Azizah Fauzi (Center for Indonesian Policy Studies), Ibrahim S. Bangura (Future Leaders Initiative SL) and Regean Mugume (Economic Policy Research Centre). You can see the videos of their winning pitches here.
