This webinar will focus on a synthesis paper that explores the complexities and challenges of promoting equity in research by bringing together perspectives from across the Global South and North. Through separate inquiry tracks, it contrasts the approaches, framings, and main concerns identified by stakeholders in both settings.
While actors in the Global North focus on reshaping research partnerships and advancing equity as an end goal, those in the Global South view equity as integral to broader systemic transformations within the development knowledge ecosystem. Despite substantial variation in agendas, objectives and approaches to research collaboration, finding common ground is crucial to fostering cross-cutting dialogue in Global Souths and Norths, and to developing a joint action agenda for pro-equity change.
This session is part of the ongoing initiative on Equity in Research for Development, led by Southern Voice in collaboration with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and sponsored by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
