Our organisation is growing! This October, Southern Voice is proud to announce the welcoming of 11 new affiliate-members to the network, growing our community from 71 to 82 think tanks, now reaching 40 different countries across the Global South. The new additions reflect at a time when the network is expanding in geographic reach, thematic areas of coverage, and methodological diversity.
To foster meaningful growth and engagement, Southern Voice is introducing an affiliate program for new members. These affiliate-members will undergo a one-year transitional phase, with both sides assessing fit and alignment while holding the same rights as full members. This process aims to maintain active engagement while Southern Voice continues to increase representation in key regions and topics, and in key global agendas we are shaping, such as the post-2030 agenda, future of development cooperation, United Nations leadership, among others. The new Southern Voice affiliate-members are the following.
Africa:
- Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) from Botswana
- Centre For Development and Enterprises (CDE) Great Lakes from Burundi
- Somali Institute for Development Research and Analysis (SIDRA) from Somalia
- New South Institute (NSI) from South Africa
Asia:
- Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM) from Mongolia
- South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) from Bangladesh
Latin America:
- BRICS Policy Center from Brazil
- Centro de Investigación Observatorio del Desarrollo (CIOdD) from Costa Rica
- Fundar from Argentina
- Fundar from Mexico
- Transversal from Mexico
This marks a milestone for Southern Voice, as we reach the highest number of members in our 13-year history, and become even better equipped to reflect the breadth of expertise and diversity present in the Global South.
