About Andrea Ordoñez

Andrea Ordóñez is a Senior Research Fellow at Southern Voice and has been part of the initiative since its inception in 2012. She led the implementation of the network strategy and programmes. She co-edited the book “Southern Perspectives on the Post-2015 International Development Agenda” with Debapriya Bhattacharya. Her work focuses on better fostering better knowledge systems to support sustainable development. Andrea has developed research projects for the public sector and numerous international organizations.

This synthesis paper brings together perspectives from across the Global South and North to explore the complexities and challenges of promoting equity in research. Findings reveal that while actors in the Global North—particularly research for development funders—most often focus on reshaping research partnerships and advancing equity as an end goal in itself, those in the Global South view equity as integral to broader systemic transformations within the development knowledge ecosystem.
