About Tarini Shipurkar

Tarini J. Shipurkar is a sociologist by training with a keen interest in gender, youth, and human rights. She has also co-conceived Sindhanai—a Global South-led initiative aimed at embedding evaluation within collectivisation efforts. With expertise in participatory methods and approaches, she brings a deep understanding of engaging communities in inclusive research and action. Additionally, she has developed communication and knowledge products, including dashboards, to effectively translate insights into accessible formats for diverse audiences

In a bold departure from traditional North–South dynamics, eight Global South organisations formed the South-to-South collective. With backing from the Ford Foundation and IDRC-Canada, they are challenging entrenched power imbalances in global evaluation, advancing decolonial and equitable research approaches led by Southern voices across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Rooted in amplifying marginalised voices, we champion participatory democracy through community-led research. Post-MDGs, we created ground-level panels highlighting gaps in global frameworks. During COVID-19, Praxis India launched COLLECT across 70 Indian districts, using real-time data to sustain grassroots action and strengthen communities' role in shaping development decisions.
