While AI has been heralded as changing the way intellectual work will be organised and executed over the coming years, it raises critical questions about accuracy, reliability, and the risks of deception.
The inaugural season of The Compass examines how the Global South can strengthen ownership over knowledge production, and how to reshape dominant global narratives. Across its five episodes, the series explores critical questions around who controls development narratives, how data and evidence are valued, and what it takes to ensure Southern perspectives are not only included, but lead. Featuring cross-regional dialogues, each episode highlights both shared challenges and context-specific insights, reinforcing the diversity and interconnectedness of the Southern Voice network.
This three-day workshop in Nairobi brought together think tanks, funders, and policymakers to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of Global South research institutions. Through collaboration and co-creation, participants explored practical ways to enhance evidence use, build partnerships, and develop a shared roadmap for more impactful, inclusive research for development.

Southern Voice has launched the Resilience and Sustainability Self-Assessment Tool under its Strengthening Think Tanks Project. Designed for think tanks in the Global South, the tool helps organisations assess resilience, sustainability, and policy influence across six core pillars, strengthening institutional performance and advancing more inclusive research systems.
