Lessons learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic in Latin American Countries

Closed experts meeting

Wednesday, 29 September

Introduction

COVID-19 world health crisis produced tremendous economic, social, political challenges. These propelled multidimensional and multilevel state responses, which implied state capacities in different areas, such as policy implementation, intersectoral and interjurisdictional coordination and, most importantly, production and management of information for decision making and accountability processes.

As a consequence we have seen advances in the publication of open data by not only national governments, but also subnational ones. However, the differences between countries, and inside them, around what was published is remarkable. This event will analyze those disparities around COVID-19 data. We will discuss a paper produced by CIPPEC´s Monitoring and Evaluation program, which focuses on the topic in three levels: inside countries, between subnational governments; between these and national governments; and comparing Latin America with Canada, as an exemplary case.
