Online event

The Covid-19 pandemic has shone an unforgiving light upon vulnerabilities and inequalities that already existed within our societies, and the world of work has not been spared. But crisis can be an opportunity for positive change. In the hope we can build a bridge to a better future beyond the pandemic, the RSA, On Think Tanks and Southern Voice are inviting  researchers, and changemakers to exchange international perspectives on the impact of the crisis, digitisation and changing labour markets, with a spotlight on critical questions and findings coming from the Global South: what ideas can help improve people’s working conditions and lives, and minimise frictions that all too often have a disproportionate impact on disadvantaged groups?

The event will last 1h30 and will be divided into two main parts:

  1.   Panel discussion and Q&A with researchers from the Global South, moderated by the RSA’s Future Work CentrePanelistsKarin Fernando (CEPA – Sri Lanka)Ramiro Albrieu (CIPPEC – Argentina)

Corti Paul Lakuma (EPRC – Uganda)

  2. Interactive breakout groups and a plenary session where all participants can connect and share their thoughts and insights

This event is taking place during a week-long series of Bridges to the Future Conversations, hosted by the RSA and with our global communities of changemakers. At the RSA, we unite people and ideas to resolve the challenges of our time and recognise that crisis can be an opportunity for positive change. As we contend with the Covid-19 crisis, we are bringing people together to unlock ideas and innovation in the areas of society that must thrive, now and in the future.
