Ahead of the FfD4 conference, Southern Voice and its partners outline key priorities—debt sustainability, climate finance, taxation, and more—to reshape global financial systems and support inclusive, sustainable development. Global challenges like climate change and misinformation affect everyone, but not equally. On May 29, 2025, Southern Voice launched *Global South Perspectives*, a peer-reviewed publication offering research-based solutions. Experts highlighted the Global South’s unique vulnerabilities—and its potential to shape global governance through stronger, evidence-informed participation.
The fourth session of the inaugural SV Talks series invites participants to reconsider security through a broader and more integrated lens that recognises how governance gaps interact with digital vulnerabilities and with transnational crime.
The second session of the first edition of Southern Voice Talks explores the role of youth in shaping global development. Drawing on new research and insights from young thinkers and experts, the session highlights how to break barriers, strengthen participation, and create meaningful spaces for youth engagement in policy debates.
Global challenges—climate change, conflict, disease—demand collective solutions. International cooperation, often polarised in public debate, is essential to align national and global interests. Global South Perspectives offers a platform for researchers from the Global South to propose actionable, locally grounded solutions that contribute to restructuring international cooperation for a better future.
The multilateral agenda is increasingly complex, requiring revitalised approaches. The Global South’s think tanks offer critical research to support negotiations on issues like climate change, finance, and technology. Stronger links with negotiators, improved funding, and bold, out-of-the-box proposals can enhance multilateralism and benefit communities across the Global South.
The global population is projected to reach 10.3 billion by 2100, with 80% in Africa and Asia. This shift offers economic potential but also risks deepening poverty and unemployment. The PEOPLE Action Group highlighted that nations’ strength depends on investing in youth, education, and healthcare to harness demographic dividends.
The world is in tumultuous transition—old certainties fading, power shifting, and global alliances reshaping. While the Global North grapples with anxiety and instability, the Global South seizes the moment to demand justice and equity. Amid rising disorder, the path forward lies in shared leadership, cooperation, and bold, principled vision.
