The publication is a collection of six presentations and interventions made at the session on “The Unfinished Agenda” of the Expert Group Meeting held in Dhaka on 11‐13 January 2013. The issue focuses on specific development areas (e.g. gender agenda) of continued relevance for the post‐2015 agenda. The contributions also provide a number of interesting geographical experiences (e.g. Latin America). The prospective role of the Southern Voice on Post-MDGs network has been highlighted in one of the pieces.

This issue of the SVOP is a collection of five presentations and interventions made at the session on “Issues for the Future” of the Expert Group Meeting held in Dhaka on 11‐13 January 2013. A number of emerging issues that need to be included in the post-2015 agenda has been highlighted in the publication. The contributions underscore the difficult policy choices to be made in the future as well as focus on the experience of the Southern countries in general and fragile states in particular. The need to integrate science and technology dimensions in the post-2015 agenda has been emphasised in one of the pieces.

This issue of the SVOP is a collection of seven presentations and interventions made at the session on ‘Global Partnership for Post-MDGs and Resource Mobilisation’ of the Expert Group Meeting held in Dhaka on 11‐13 January 2013.The emerging issues relating to global partnership and resource mobilisation in the context of the post-2015 agenda have been addressed in the publication. The contributions highlight the changing contours of global partnership, and sources of development finance, as well as underscore the importance of institutions and governance in accessing and utilisation of the mobilised resources.
Southern Voice holds Country Illustration Workshop for European Report on Development
Southern Voice in association with Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Overseas Development Institute (ODI), German Development Policy Institute (DIE), European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) and University of Athens organized a Country Illustration workshop for the 5th European Report on Development (ERD 2014) titled “Financing and Other Means of Implementation in the Post-2015 Context” in Dhaka on 19 February, 2014.
The workshop was organized in connection with a preparation of the European Report on Development 2014 (ERD 2014),Southern Voice is a core partner in the consortium responsible for preparation of the ERD 2014 along with ODI, DIE, ECPDM and University of Athens. The workshop aimed to examine how combinations of different finance options, complementary policies and other means of implementation contribute to lifting binding constraints in the process of development and promoting sustainable economic, social and environmental transformations.
The opening remarks were delivered by Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director, CPD; Dr. Peter Wolff, Head of Department, World Economy and Development Financing, DIE; Dr. James Mackie, Senior Adviser, EU Development Policy, ECDPM and Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, Chair, Southern Voice and Distinguished Fellow, CPD. Bangladesh country study was presented by Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Research Director, CPD, followed by presentations from country illustration authors-Dr Evan Borges, Ecuador, Dr Bagus Santoso, Indonesia, Mr Nikhil Treebhoohun, Mauritius and Dr Olesea Ghedrovici, Moldova. Ambassador H E William Hanna, European Union Delegation to Bangladesh; Dr Ahsan Habib Mansur, Executive Director, Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI); Ms Simeen Mahmud, Lead Researcher, BRAC Development Institute (BDI), Dhaka; Dr Rizwanul Islam, Former Special Advisor on Growth, Employment and Poverty Reduction, ILO, Geneva; Dr Hassan Zaman, Chief Economist, Bangladesh Bank were the designated discussants and speakers at the sessions. Dr. Dirk Willem te Velde, Team leader ERD 2014 and Head of Programme, International Economic Development Economic Group, ODI provided comments and concluding remarks.
