Southern Voice is pleased to announce that it is joining the Unlock the Future Coalition, a group of organisations dedicated to delivering transformative change for young people and future generations.

As a think tank network from the Global South, we fully support the coalition’s mission to empower young people to be designers of their own future.

“The United Nations Foundation is delighted to welcome Southern Voice. The network not only brings fresh perspectives from the Global South but also a number of up-and-coming young researchers who will be pivotal in contributing to the Unlock the Future Coalition”, says Harshani Dharmadasa – Senior Director, Global Partnerships and Initiatives at United Nations Foundation.

Through the Unlock the Future declaration, leaders of the world’s most far-reaching youth-focused and youth-led movements, networks, and organisations, made a commitment to unlocking a better future for children and young people, and for future generations. They agreed to develop a vision, strategy, and plan for a high-ambition coalition, working with young people and partners from across the world.

“Putting young people at the heart of change in the post-pandemic era is more vital than ever. The myriad of challenges the world faces needs bold solutions and creative thinking, in particular from and in developing countries”, says Gabriela Keseberg Dávalos, Head of Communications at Southern Voice.

The Unlock declaration was motivated by the need for convergence in a crowded international environment. Impact will only be achieved for young people when we avoid duplication and competition so that we can work collectively based on the comparative advantage of each partner.
