What does the future of African agriculture look like? Will it be able to meet the demand of a population…
Virtual event, 18-19 November 2020
For the second year in a row, Southern Voice is partnering with the African Capacity Building Foundation for the Africa Think Tank Summit.
This year, it will be held online, under the theme “Implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement: Assessing country readiness and the implications for capacity building”.
Two members of our network will be joining the discussions:
- Dr. Philani Mthembu, Executive Director of the Institute for Global Dialogue in South Africa
- and Dr. Khondaker Golam Moazzem, from the Centre for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh.
Dr. Mthembu will be speaking about key capacity issues facing the implementation of the Agreement on the continental and country levels, while Dr. Moazzem will be taking part in a conversation on the role of think tanks in supporting the implementation of the AfCFTA, bringing to the table the experience of Bangladesh with the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement.
The main objective of this 7th Summit is to provide a platform for African Think Tanks and other key stakeholders to engage in a high-level deliberation on the most effective ways of addressing the capacity challenges facing the implementation of the AfCFTA to accelerate its implementation and enhance country readiness in implementing and benefiting from the Agreement, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Africa Think Tank Summit has been taking place annually since 2014. It is a unique continental forum that brings together the think tank community, policymakers, development practitioners and experts interested in Africa’s development agenda.
