About Beatriz Muriel

Beatriz Muriel holds Ph.D. and Master Degrees in Economics from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (in Portuguese, PUC-Rio). In 2005, she won the Haralambos Simeonidis Brazilian Award for the best Ph.D. Thesis; granted by the Brazilian Association of Graduate Programs in Economics (in Portuguese, ANPEC). She worked both in Bolivia and Brazil governments and academia, which allowed her to apply her thorough theoretical and empirical background to economic development issues. Beatriz published more than fifty research in books, refereed journals and working papers series. Currently, she is working at INESAD Foundation as the Executive Director.
