In a world shaped by overlapping crises, from pandemics and climate shocks to rising debt and weak health systems, the Global South is on the frontlines. These challenges hit hardest where fiscal space is limited and debt burdens are growing. This session draws on insights from our latest Global South Perspectives (GSP) publication and connects them to the financing for development agenda.
Building on the recent FfD4 conference in Seville and Southern Voice’s Joint Statement on Financing for Development, the session highlights the need to expand fiscal space through debt relief, tax reform, and reforms to multilateral development banks. It offers a timely opportunity to reflect on the urgency of Southern-led solutions and stronger leadership from the Global South.
